On March 3 and 5, 2026, the Sumy Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education hosted online training sessions for English teacher Olena Tkalenko, who won the second round of the nationwide Teacher of the Year 2026 competition in the “English Language” category.
One of the trainers was the chairperson of the competition jury, Inna Leonidivna Humeniuk, candidate of philological sciences and associate professor of the Department of Foreign Languages at the Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A.S. Makarenko. During the training, the contestant was asked to take a test on English language teaching methods and technologies, and the test results were analyzed. The trainer also familiarized the participant with the features of the technological map of an English lesson and its differences from a lesson plan. During the training, attention was also paid to the pronunciation of the contestant.
At the end of the training, Olena Tkalenko had the opportunity to get answers to her questions from the members of the competition jury in the “English Language” category.
