On April 14, 2026, master's students and members of the Inter-University Research Laboratory of Modern Technologies of Teaching Foreign Languages and Cultures Vlada Homolia and Mariia Biziuk held an online film club session for students of Sumy Professional Medical College and Sumy State Pedagogical University.
The interactive video training session was conducted using the authorial methodology "Film Club for English Teachers," developed by H.I. Podosynnikova. The film assigned for viewing and discussion was "Sing" – a bright, energetic story about ordinary characters who dare to step onto a stage and share their voice with the world. The film demonstrates that true courage means continuing to believe in your calling even when life has knocked you down and the odds are stacked against you.
From Sumy Professional Medical College, the session was attended by students of group 1-Fb (future paramedics) under the supervision of lecturer Lada Fariatiieva.
While watching and discussing "Sing", the film club participants touched upon the following topics:
- the courage to pursue your art despite fear and failure;
- perseverance as the path to one's dream even under the most challenging circumstances;
- the power of creativity and self-expression in overcoming life's hardships.
The film inspired students to reflect on how belief in one's own talent and the willingness to overcome obstacles can transform not only one's own life, but also the hearts of those around them.
Lecturer Lada Fariatiieva shared her reflections: "Collaboration with Alma Mater opens new horizons in combining methodology with a creative approach to teaching. Participation in such training sessions allows not only to improve language competence, but also to gain practical tools (ready-to-use cases) for working with students. Film pedagogy today is the shortest path to engaging modern students.
